Want a Fun Way to Connect With Your Kids? Start Reading a Series With Them!

We have shared plenty of amazing book lists with you all! For Early Elementary School kids, high school kids, picture books read alouds and etc! Now I am going to share some of our favorite series to read aloud to your kids! The summertime is such a great time to start a new series with them. It gives you each something to look forward to, is great one on one time spent with them, and gives them the opportunity to disconnect from screens and use their imagination. Together you can talk about the possible outcomes and implications of the books you read!

I am ALWAYS on the look out for good books!! I’d love to share with you a list of books that are fun to read to a variety of kids. At night before bed, I love reading books with my kids, but especially love getting into some fun chapter books with them!! So here is just a list of some of our very favorites for reading aloud to our people! Even my 15 year old!!!

The Lord of The Rings by J.R. Tolkein! Totally a classic

Harry Potter–it’s a classic for a reason!

The Narnia Series by C.S, Lewis!! C.S. Lewis can feel a bit slow at first, but he truly is a master of description and reading it aloud with my kids has helped them appreciate his works more!

Fablehaven by Brandon Mull–such a fun series! I have mentioned this one before, but really, my kids enjoy it and so do I!

The False Prince by Jennifer A Nielsen–

The Guardians Series by William Joyce–This is perfect for late elementary school kids, but fun for all ages to listen to!

The Magic Misfits by Neil Patrick Harris–This book is fun and fantastical. It does include a girl with 2 dads, so if that makes you uncomfortable you can skip it. I didn’t put any emphasis there so I felt like it was fine.

Alcatraz Vs The Evil Librarians by Brandon Sanderson–Hilarious and fun to read the little side comments that Brandon Sanderson is well known for. This unique series has kept my kids hoping for more!

Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder– This classic has been enjoyed by both my girls and boys! Fun to read about how they prepared for winter and summer and how grateful we are for modern technology today!

Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger–A longer series filled with adventure and magic that keeps you on the edge of your seat!

You are sure to find adventure, laughs, and fun in these stories with your kids!! So grab one and start reading today!
