We have had a particularly wet summer around here with plenty of warm thunder storms! It’s hasn’t always been awesome, as we were visited by a tornado–not the type of visit one looks forward to, but exciting nonetheless! As we’ve been in a drought, mostly the rain has been welcome, except for when my kids have been excited to go swimming or practice a sport and the lightning has prevented it.
The other day, however, I was busy getting school supplies sorted and ready for my kids to go back to school next week when the heavens opened and just started dumping rain. It had been pretty muggy, so it definitely wasn’t unexpected. Suddenly I heard laughter amid the pounding water and looked outside to find my 4 and 6 year-old running around in the rain.
I glanced across the street to see that the workers that had been busy repairing the fence from the aforementioned tornado just a few minutes before were up against my neighbor’s garage watching my kids with smiles on their faces.
It’s often stated around here that if you don’t like the weather in Colorado, just wait an hour and it’ll change. Here, these workers were just waiting for the rain to pass so that they could finish their job. As I watched my kids run around and play I could not help but smile! My 9 and 11 year-old joined them as well. They came in sopping wet and so happy!
There are so many lessons to be learned from this one picture, but I hope to remember to enjoy the time as it comes! It’s ok if you get a little bit wet in the process, in fact, it’s encouraged!!
