A Day in the Life of Friendly February

This month we decided to institute Friendly February, and I just have to say, that I’ve loved how my kids have really done their best to do it! It’s essentially just another variation of secret somethings, but doing little acts of service for those outside of our home, and inside of our home, and they don’t necessarily have to be secret. They can also just be a compliment they give to a friend or a family member. It’s been great to see them seek opportunity to say something nice to each other! Here’s a little glimpse at the things they’ve chosen to do.

On Valentine’s Day, we made some extra valentines to give out to strangers or those around school that my kids didn’t normally speak with.

My middle schooler chose to write a “thank you” heart to her teachers and share cookies with her friends at school. My high schooler decided to do the same, mostly because his little sister had already made the cookie dough ;), but hey, it was still kind!

Every night this month I put a heart on my kids’ doors with something I admire about them.

Each year one of my kids decides to do it back to my door, always without being prompted, usually a different kid. This year, the kid that I thought least likely to do it, did. Magic.

And lastly, my husband made crème brulee to share with his coworkers. I know. Don’t you wish you worked with him? And, of course, he made one for me too!

If you are feeling like your month needs a little extra sweetness, give it a try! If not, there’s always Mostly-Good March, or Awesome April! All of it counts! Just put a little sweetness in the world that wasn’t there before!!
