I thought perhaps I was the only one who hadn’t heard of a golden birthday! Afterall, mine would have been a couple decades ago on the 9th, and I’m pretty sure the label had not yet been invented! Our youngest just turned 17 on the 17th! Turns out that is a golden birthday when your age aligns with the date of your birthday! Hooray for another reason to celebrate!
When I started discussing a party for my daughter, (we do a friend party every other year, and a family activity on the opposite years!) she said it was going to be her golden birthday! I told her I wasn’t sure I knew what that meant. She then told me maybe we needed gold balloons, and gold clothing for her! Wait what?
Once I could tell that she actually meant she really wanted the gold portion of the celebration included, I started looking up ideas. There are plenty! You can go all out, but we decided to make it part of the theme, without overwhelming the guests.

Ta Da! Golden Birthday! Truly this party is not too different than regular birthday party run around! Considering we have done Harry Potter, Pirates, Princess Parties, Movie themed parties and of course Chocolate parties! Golden birthday is a fun and doable theme, ya just go for the gold!
