A Few Fun & Easy ideas for Christmas Stockings!

It’s coming! That big holiday that brings lots of family time, but also a fair amount of stress! Here are a few ideas to plan ahead and relieve some of the stress before it starts!

If you are up for considering a few things ahead of time, here are some small gift ideas, perfect for a stocking, that have been big hits with my 12 years old through adults over the last several years!

One of our favorite Christmas Stocking ideas is a fun dose of high end makeup for my girls! Around Thanksgiving, Estee Lauder, Lancôme, Clinique and etc. often do stellar deals. You can many times buy these deals online. (Thank Goodness!) Estee Lauder and Lancôme do a big “Ultimate” gift, which I have purchased and divided the skin care and fun colors amongst my daughters. They have loved this! It’s a fun way to try new product and decide on new favorites! PLUS, places like Ulta do a $10 or $12 special on the luxury mascaras. Also a fun way to sample! We don’t normally buy the luxury cosmetics, so it’s fun to make that a Christmas treat!

Pens! We LOVE pens around our house! Smooth writing pens are our favorites. You can buy big packages and split them between lots of stockings, or buy a set for each kid. This is great for boys and girls-hooray! Here are a couple of our favorite brands. Uniball Gel Pens, there are lots of styles, but 207 or Signo delivers pretty well, and my boys love them! We also love the Pilot G2 in black, blue or fun colors. PaperMate Inkjoy for color gels are wonderful! Okay we can go on and on, but we also recommend the PaperMate Flairs- they have such fun colors and don’t bleed through paper! We love them! These are perfect for your budding artist, your journal writer, or if your boys are like my boys the people who just like a smooth writing pen! (Also check out the Uniball Air & Pilot Precise, they are our new faves!)

What about the people that are hard to buy for? Here are some of our favorite ideas for “I don’t know what to put in your stocking people.” These are toys that we have found end up appealing to many! The round buildable magnets are super fun and make a bit of a fidget toy. My older kids end up taking them to their office. They do make a “clink” sound when played with so keep that in mind. You can also get them in a flat stackable shape. A couple of my kids have also received the infinity cube. It is well like enough that when my missionary son left for Rome on his mission, his sister asked for his cube before he left.

Okay one more teen/adult fidget type toy is the spinning top. (Inception anyone?) A couple years ago, I didn’t realized that these can range in price from around $10 to more than $100, but indeed they do. This one is decent, low priced and my boys enjoy them. Fun little stocking stuffer.

Now if you are at the point that I have also been, of I cannot stand to bring more STUFF into our home, then let me now point you to some of our favorite ideas for experiences, memories and perhaps a personalized calendar. Remember, if you really don’t want stuff, there are gift cards for movie theatres, ice cream shops, music downloads and etc. Those are easy to purchase and are always appreciated!

The season can be crazy with all the concerts, finals, neighbor gifts and etc., but with a little bit of an early start, maybe we will have more magic and less stress! You’ve got this!

By the way of disclosure: There are some links in here to Amazon, which we get a few pennies back if you purchase that way. There is no extra cost to you! 🙂
