I love it when my kids are home for the summer! It’s our best chance to play. Honestly it is chaos of course. There are definitely more quarrels and messiness, but there is also an abundance laughter and new happy memories! Hooray for Summer! Here are some of our favorite ideas for day trips and activities to make the summer joyful! Try a few this week!
- Local City Splash Pads (We have a lot in Arizona and Colorado)
- Feeding Farm Animals
- Feeding the Ducks at the Park
- Water Tables in your Backyard
- Sprinklers in the Backyard
- Extra Large Slip n Slide with friends
- Summer Reading Program (Audiobooks count too)
- Create something yummy in the kitchen (Orange Julius anyone?)
- YouTube cooking classes (choose a different project each week!)
- Float down a local river on tubes
- Create a summer craft
- Find a Service Project to do from our home (Check with your locals children’s hospital to see what needs they have!)
- Have a game night or afternoon (Some of our favorites & more)
- Look on Groupon for fun Activities on sale in your area (escape rooms, ceramic painting, & more)
- Make Homemade Ice Cream or Homemade Popsicles!
- Overhaul your closets then watch your favorite movie with popcorn! (The combo makes it bearable!)
- Make these amazing rolls (your 9 year old can learn to do it!)
- Plan a family reunion! Make it happen!
- Host a kids camp or attend a neighborhood kid’s camp
- Check out hikes local to you!
