A Quick & Blissful Balanced Morning Smoothie

This delicious smoothie is created multiple times during the week in our household. The great thing about smoothies is you can add in extra nutrition and blend it up into a tasty concoction that is easy to drink on the go! Plus, every time this smoothie is made, there is a slight variation according to the taste of the individual! Hooray! We love a flexible recipe! You can add in a handful of fresh spinach, or an extra teaspoon of cacao or whatever you wish for your creation. In your own high speed blender, create your own morning bliss. I love it because it is fast and I feel fueled with all the right things after drinking it! Yum!

This recipe is beautifully balanced, because it has both carbohydrates and protein to start your day off right. The protein comes from my current favorite protein powder Orgain Chocolate. (Nope, not paid to say that) It is delicious and is made up of pea protein and the like. It leaves you feeling great! Then the carbohydrates are coming partly from the protein powder but also from the frozen berries and bananas. Occasionally, I purchase frozen strawberries, but mostly I stock up on fresh ones when they are on sale! Just a quick rinse, slice and then put them in gallon Ziplocs in my freezer. Ditto with the bananas. We buy a couple bunches of bananas at a time. Then when they are a smidge overripe, we break them into 1-2 inch pieces and place them in a gallon Ziploc intended for the freezer. A little meal prep that takes so little time and allows the morning to run smoothly.

Smoothly for a Smoothie! 😉

Notes

You can also create this smoothie with a fresh banana and berries (not frozen) just make sure to add 5 or 6 pieces of ice to the mixture before blending for that delicious chilled effect. 🙂
Also remember, you can add 1 cup of fresh spinach, heightening the nutrition and not affecting the taste. This is a great choice for picky toddlers!
