Making Room for the Bunny and the Lamb for Easter

I love Cadbury Chocolate Eggs, they are deliciousness. Right?!? That fragile candy shell that gives way to melty chocolate that is just big enough to savor for a moment. Yep! That’s a happy invention! My kids look forward to finding those in their Easter Eggs every year.

However, while that is a happy tradition in our family, that is not the reason why I celebrate.

I definitely spread flowers, bunnies and signs of spring around my house to bring a cheerful feeling, but the reason why it is a holiday in the first place is because the tomb so long ago was empty. It was empty of an innocent man who performed miracles, taught powerful lessons, loved the unlovable, prayed fervently for each of us and then allowed himself to be crucified. Oh how He loved us.

Amazing.

I am learning to love too. I mean I surely love Jesus, maybe even more because He loved me first and showed the way. As I turn my heart and thoughts to Him and try to learn, he tutors me how to love others better. I am grateful for the generous thoughts that come into my head and the little nudges to share kindness, because I love to bring that kind of cheerful feeling even more that decorating a room for spring.

I am learning to love better because of Him and I am grateful.

Easter bunnies bring chocolate.

The Lamb of Easter brings salvation, redemption and peace.

Let’s make sure there is room for both. Something sweet and temporary, as well as something everlasting and life changing.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 New Testament
