Fresh Strawberry Freezer Jam! Easy Deliciousness!

Easy and super delicious strawberry jam. It is pretty much a staple around our home. This sweet and tangy mixture goes amazingly on toast, waffles, PB&J, scones and of course fresh bread! I would like to say we love it because it is amazingly healthy, but truthfully, it is simply because it tastes like fresh strawberries all year round! So Yummy!!

In these pictures, you will see I was not making a single batch! I was making 4 batches, so we could have some to share with neighbors and some to freeze and use over 6 months. If you are looking to impress your loved ones or your office mates, combine this fresh jam with these amazing rolls and you might just get a promotion or maybe a proposal of marriage! Or at least lots of happy sighs of joy! Both the rolls and the jam are beginner recipes and anyone can do it!

One last little happy thought is the strawberry jam and fresh rolls make an amazing neighbor gift at Christmas! Meaning if you make enough jam now and pop it in the freezer, then when you are ready to gift, you can whip up some rolls and give the combo to your neighbors, coworkers or whoever you would like to fill with cheer. It’s such a delicious and homey gift and not the normal boxed chocolates or a tin of popcorn! 😉

If this is your first time attempting jam, here are containers I like and the pectin I use. (There are 1 cup containers and 2 cups containers. I use the 1 cup for gifting) There are lots of pectin options, and some Freezer Jams call for 1 tbsp of lemon juice. If you use a different pectin, make sure to read the back of the box, or the sizeable insert. Remember if you follow their directions, to follow the side for freezer jam, not cooked jam. Also the pink box for Sure Jell is a lower sugar option! 🙂 Alright! Let’s do this!!

Fresh Strawberry Freezer Jam

Pure deliciousness that makes your toast a treat! One batch makes about 5 cups of jam.
Prep Time 30 minutes
Cook Time 4 minutes

Equipment

  • Containers & lids to hold the finished jam.

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Mashed Strawberries This is about 4 cups fresh strawberries reduced to 2 when pureed.
  • 4 Cups Granulated Sugar Use a knife to get this precise.
  • 1 Box Sure Jell (Or the like– a pectin for creating freezer jams found at most larger grocery stores.)
  • 3/4 cup Water

Instructions

  • Each batch of jam will create approximately 5 cups of jam.
  • Wash containers and lids in hot soapy water, rinse and dry. Set those aside.
  • Wash and remove the stems of the strawberries.
  • Place around 4 cups of whole strawberries in your blender. Now pulse until you have a strawberry mush, but do NOT liquify, you still want some small chunks.
  • Measure exactly 2 cups of crushed strawberries into a large mixing bowl
  • Add exactly 4 cups granulated sugar into the strawberries and mix well. You cannot skimp on the sugar, otherwise the jam may not set. Let strawberry and sugar mixture sit for 10 minutes. (Wait 6 minutes and then prepare your pectin or work on another batch of jam!)
  • In a small sauce pan add 3/4 of water on medium heat, add in pectin immediately and whisk until smooth. As soon as you have no lumps, you can bump up the heat a smidge. Bring the pectin to full boil and allow to boil for one minute.
  • Pour the hot pectin into the strawberry mixture that has been resting. Mix together for 3 minutes allowing the remaining sugar to dissolve.
  • Pour immediately into the prepared jam containers, leaving 1/2 space at the top for freeze expansion.
  • Leave the prepared jam mixture on the counter at rest for 24 hours at which point you can place in your freezer. Or you can certainly use one right away! 🙂
Fresh Strawberry Jam and these rolls pair amazingly together! Such a treat!
