Dancing to the Finish Line With Something to Look Forward To!

The end of the school year feels like a crazy sprint! Well, that’s not true. It feels more like a mad dash here, a desperate lunge there, and maybe a frantic face block thrown in there as well. Overall, my kids are pretty good about keeping their heads clear when a lot is required of them (thank you 6 kids!!). Sometimes I find that I just need a break in there, though, otherwise my kids pick up on my anxiety.

We have some fun trips planned this summer, and that has been a saving grace for me. The power of something to look forward to has helped me remind myself that there truly is a light at the end of the end of school year tunnel. My kids feel the anticipation too. If any of us feels anxious or burnt out with the things we are doing someone says, “Quick!! Dance break,” and we all stop what we’re doing while someone sings or beat boxes a rap and we do a crazy one minute dance. It is amazing how this little dance party has lifted our spirits and given us the umph to continue. Umph is a thing and we all could use a little more umph in our lives!!!

So, if you find yourself overwhelmed with life at any time of the year, dance it out and find something to look forward to. That something could be a fun family trip, a delicious dinner, a hug from a loved one, or even just sitting down for 5 minutes at the end of the day!! Whatever it is, celebrate it and dance through that finish line!!!
