Name Box: A Unique and Personalized Gift!

One year while looking for a special gift for one of my children for a birthday I found a cute gift box. That little box totally sparked the idea of making a special keepsake box for my people. I got some large letter stickers and got to work.

I cut the letters out to arrange them how I wanted them to look and carefully stuck them in place. My daughter just LOVED it!! My other kids all looked at that box with longing in their eyes too, haha! I have now made one for each of my people and they keep little things that are special to them inside. Some keep stickers that they collect, letters that they have received in the mail, or cards and stationary to be used. Others have pictures from special events, small souvenirs or keepsakes from trips. They all love to take out their box and look through them to reminisce and enjoy its contents, then put everything back and stick their box on a shelf in their closet. This helps them learn to keep special things put away–not out where they may get lost or damaged. It also helps them know it’s ok to have keepsakes, but not keep ALL of the things…because, let’s be honest, they want to keep all of the things, and, I don’t know about you, but I can’t have ALL of the things in my house!!

These boxes make great friend gifts as well! My kids have picked out a box, I’ve helped them put their friends’ name on it, and they choose a cute pen and their favorite candy to put inside. Everyone loves it! As they get older, they use it less for everyday trinkets and more for meaningful things. It’s like a journal in a box for them.

These boxes are always so well received and make cute baby shower gifts as well–the perfect little keepsake for baby’s firsts! These would be perfect Valentine’s Day boxes also! I am sure you can think of many more uses! I found mine at Target, but similar boxes can be found at Hobby Lobby and Amazon.

So, if you find yourself in need of a meaningful gift idea and don’t want to spend a ton on a monogram, make your own!! Don’t wait for a birthday, give it as an “I was thinking about you” gift!

No matter the occasion, this gift is sure to bring a smile! Happy Gifting!!
